The Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Evans Osei Boateng has said, one of the major issues bothering the development and reforms the country needs is the unionized system confronting the country.
Mr. Boateng believes that the unionized systems characterized by indecisive policy makings are some of the challenging factors hovering around the shoulders of Ghana’s development.
Whiles speaking to Kwame Koranteng on Republic FM on Friday, June 24, citing ECG as an illustration, defining how powerful agitations by these firms can see to the abdication of its CEO.
“Let me give one typical issue, that’s the unionization of our system. Take for instance ECG, we have a system that workers of ECG unions are so powerful that the union leaders can hold the CEO to the extent that you can even lose your job and when these happens, the government finds it uncomfortable considering the number of workers complaining then it relieve off the CEO his post, meanwhile you might not know the learned CEO would want to implement structural changes that may help the company to glow but due to some loopholes some people are enjoying from, they stand up against that person.
And so the unionization of the system, we have to look at those unions because its holding the system into ransom and if you don’t get a President who is bold enough to stand firm, you’d keep relieving competent people off their posts”, he told Kwame Koranteng.
